Experts will discuss issues ranging from research to policy into action toward ending unsafe abortion in Africa

Addis Abeba Nov. 29/2016 – The Africa Regional Conference on Abortion: From Research to Policy will be held from today to Friday, December 2, 2016, in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. According to organizers, the Guttmacher Institute, African Population and Health Research Center and Ipas, the conference “builds on a decade of work linking research to action to reduce unsafe abortion in Sub-Saharan Africa.”

Addis Abeba Nov. 21/2016 – A project to build a mega fertilizer production facility has been launched by Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and King Mohammed VI of Morocco on November 19. An agreement for the building of the plant was signed by Morocco’s state-owned phosphate mining company OCP-SA and the Ethiopian Ministry of Public Enterprises at King Mohammed VI visit. OCP-SA will invest 2.3 billion USD between the years of 2017 and 2022 to for the building of the plant in Dire Dawa.

Addis Abeba Nov. 10, 2016 – The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) handed over Project for Strengthening of Agricultural Pesticide Residue Analysis System (SAPRAS) to Ethiopia. The project, which was handed over on Nov. 03, was implemented following Ethiopia’s request to the Government of Japan in 2008.
