At least 74 people were killed in fighting near Somalia’s border with Ethiopia on Sunday, according to officials and witnesses. Somali and Ethiopian forces attacked the bases of Al-Shebab islamists near the south-western town of Ato.

Local people say that this is the worst fighting they have seen in the region and it is unclear how many were killed but the government claimed victory in this gruesome battle.

Radisson Blu Hotel Addis Ababa announced on May 27th that it has received a Trip advisor Certificate of Excellence award for the second year in a row.  

The award, which honors hospitality excellence, is given only to businesses that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on Trip Advisor, and is extended to qualifying businesses worldwide.

The Africa Hotel Investment Forum 2014 (AHIF) will take place at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia on 29th Sept – 1st Oct 2014, organizers said.

 “We are delighted that AHIF 2014 has received strong interest from both delegates and sponsors this year, which has resulted in a move to Addis Ababa highlighting the growth story of the continent,” said a statement from the organizers, a UK based Bench Events.
