In October 2007, then U.S. Senator Barack Obama stated, “We must do whatever it takes to track down and capture or kill terrorists, but torture is not part of the answer.” Obama was referring to the notorious interrogation technique of ‘waterboarding,’ which we now know the Bush Administration utilised.

During his four day official visit to Ethiopia from March 17th – 20th, Dr. Joachim Gauck, President of Federal Republic of Germany, held official bilateral talks with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and the following day with President Girma Woldegiorgis at the National Palace. The highlight of his visit was, however, his meeting with Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, on Tuesday March 19th.
