The Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS), the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, and the government of Ethiopia opened a workshop on Countering Violent Extremist Messaging in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 24, 2014. On March 1st, the African Union High-Level Implementation Panel on Sudan and South Sudan suspended negotiations between the Government of Sudan (GoS) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) on the conflict in the “Two Areas” of Blue Nile and South Kordofan.
