When it comes to taking African music to the world stage, Reggae music is often chosen as the vehicle. With Jamaica being the foundation of reggae music and Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia seen as the hope of its spirituality, reggae is a revolutionary musical genre which continues to captivate the international industry.

 

 

African music giants such as Alpha Blondy of Ivory Coast who is a worldwide renowned reggae musician and activist have always dreamed of fulfilling this hope with a performance in Ethiopia.

The painful stories of Ethiopian women in the Middle East has now given way to Ethiopian men and women dying in the middle of nowhere in Southern African countries

Over the last few years news of young Ethiopian men and women found dead inside jam-packed containers loaded on heavy duty trucks has become a routine media exercise both locally and in many parts of the continent. Most of the times the victims in these gruesome stories are Eritreans, Yemenis and Somalis; at other times it involves an entire truck-load of Ethiopians. All die while trying to cross borders in their attempts to go to Southern African countries, notably South Africa.

Ethiopian former supermodel successfully runs an African prominent runway  for a charity cause

cclaimed Ethiopian Supermodel, Anna Getaneh, was born in Sweden to Ethiopian diplomatic parents and had built her career modelling for several renowned fashion designers during the 1990’s. Within the last two decades, Anna Getaneh has grown form a mere supermodel whose appearances graced world class runways from Paris to Milan and who modelled for giant names like Yves Saint Laurent, to a Creative Director of her own fashion label and manager of her own initiative, African Mosaique, which she founded in South Africa in 2005 as a nonprofits initiative to raise funds to build a school in Aleltu, 55 km north of Addis Ababa, for destitute Ethiopian children.
